Harrison County: Highest Percentage of Imagination Library Enrollment in the State Check out our calendar and register for programs by scanning the QR code with your phone’s camera! 740-942-2623 Puskarich Public Library System go2library.org We are excited to announce that Harrison County officially has the highest Imagination Library enrollment number in the state. 79% of children are enrolled to receive free books in the mail until their 5th birthday! Harrison County is leading the way to get books into the hands of their littlest learners and lay the foundation for early literacy skills. Help us continue our goal of 100% enrollment by talking to friends and family about the program and signing up the children in your life. For more information, please call 740-942-2623 or visit ohioimaginationlibrary.org Library is Awarded “Libraries Transforming Communities” Grant Puskarich Public Library was recently awarded the Libraries Transforming Communities Grant from the American Library Association. This grant is specifically designed to give small libraries opportunities to better serve people with disabilities. When we spoke with the Board of Developmental Disabilities, they stated that there are not always many organizations to partner with, so this was a great opportunity for the library because one of our goals is to provide resources for the community. We started off small in December of 2023 with some crafts, but have been having regular programing for adults with developmental disabilities since, and we are continuing to expand the activities each month. It has been a wonderful experience and we have been having so much fun! Some of the activities have included a visit from Oglebay Good Zoo and some of their animal ambassadors, chair stretching, a visit from nature photographer Daniel Caron, soap-making, paintings, pottery bowls with Abby Roberts from Peaceflower Pottery, movies and concerts in the library’s theater, and crafts such as decorations, birdfeeders, windchimes, suncatchers, and lanterns. Some of the future plans include paint and snack programs, photography instruction along with a photography show, cooking experiences, music therapy, bingo, and more crafts such as wooden items created on the library’s Glowforge laser printer. We also are planning a carnival event with games, prizes, and snacks. With the money from the grant, we plan to purchase sensory equipment to be used during programming as well. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please call Susan at the library at 740-942-2623 or email sguthrie@seolibraries.org Scan to enroll a child today!
