Puskarich Public Library System *Cadiz *Freeport *Scio Volume 29 Issue 02 March/April 2020 Loretta Marion, author of the Fool’s Truth and A Haunted Bluffs Mystery series will be giving a book/author talk on May 7 at 6:00 pm at the Puskarich Public library. Loretta will share with us the inspirations behind her work. Copies of her books will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation. An author of fiction, Loretta’s writing bridges the genres of women’s fiction, mystery and suspense, always with hints of romance and humor, sometimes delving into the psychological and paranormal. She creates strong but flawed and struggling characters as appealing as the If you’re looking for some inspiration, stop by the Puskarich Public Library on April 16 at 6:00 p.m. and meet author Ruth Hanford Morhard. Ruth will be discussing her book “Mrs. Morhard and the Boys: One Mother’s Vision, the First Boys Baseball League, and a Nation Inspired.” In this uplifting biography, Ruth tells the true story of her mother-in-law, Josephine Morhard, who established the first boys’ baseball league in America. The devoted single mother created the community activity in the depths of the Great Depression to help her son overcome the trauma of his early childhood. Beyond all expectations, the project was backed by the Cleveland Indians and later inspired the creation of the American Little League. Though born and raised in the Midwest, Loretta fell in love with New Eng- land and has made it the setting for much of her writing. She is a true bibliophile, with a love for reading and creating with words, beginning when she was just a young girl. And that affection for the written word has followed her like a shadow throughout her life. Loretta lives in Rhode Island with her husband, Geoffrey, and their beloved Mr. Peabody, a sweet, devoted and amusing “Corgador” (Corgi-Labrador cross).
