Volume 27 Issue 02 March/April 2018 Puskarich Public Library System *Cadiz *Freeport *Scio Digital Shoebox Celebrate National Library Week … April 8-14 The Puskarich Public Library System joins libraries nationwide in celebrating the many ways libraries lead their communities through the transformative services, programs and expertise they offer. Join in on these full filled activities offered at your library during National Library week. Book Mark Design Contest—All ages at Clark Branch and Scio Branch are invited to design and submit a “Library "themed bookmark during National Library Week to enter into the competition. Contest will close on Sat. April 14, winners will be notified the following week! Share your Bookface with Us— Clark Branch, Scio Branch and Puskarich Public—Replace your face with a book’s cover, them snap a pic- ture then share it to the Puskarich Public’s Facebook page! Movie Night at Scio—Join us at Scio Branch library for a showing Coco, a free family film. Fun for everyone! Bring your friends! Outdoors Club Event—Clark Branch & Scio Branch team up to hike the Conotton Trail on April 13 at 5:30 p.m. Hikers will meet at the Scio Branch Library. Learn about local history through the Digital Shoe- box, turning a digital page in your yearbook or ex- plore other local resources. The Digital Shoebox is a collection of photos, newspaper articles, booklets, and yearbooks. The collections are made up of do- nated material given to libraries to scan, and pre- sent to the public. The Shoebox allows for history to be stored for future generations to enjoy. Anthony Johnson, Technology Coordinator, will show you how on: Puskarich Public Library—March 21 at 5 pm. Jack Kibble and Scott Pendleton of the Harrison County Historical Society will also be sharing local photographs to help identify individuals and locations. (This will only be at Puskarich). Sunflowers—Give Mom Sunshine for Mother’s Day Don’t miss this presentation on the different varieties of sunflowers and how to grow and harvest them. Adele Mason, a member of the OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program will be giving a presentation on Sunflowers on May 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the Puskarich Public Library. The program is suitable for children and adults alike. She will discuss making a sunflower house, growing sunflowers for pollinators, saving and storing seeds, and the benefits of sunflower butters. The presentation will finish with a craft suitable for a Mother’s Day gift. Parents should attend with their child to assist them with this project.
